Efficient Power Conversion (EPC) has commenced mass production of its new 100 V integrated gallium nitride (GaN) power-stage IC family, featuring models EPC23108, EPC23109, EPC23110, and EPC23111. These ePower™ Stage ICs are tailored for high-performance motion-control applications, integrating high-side and low-side eGaN® FETs, along with gate drivers and level-shifting circuitry, into compact, thermally enhanced QFN packages. The devices are designed to operate at up to 100 V and come with current ratings of 35 A and 20 A, depending on the model, aiming to enhance power density and efficiency while simplifying system design.
The new product line offers features such as rapid fault shutdown, safe gate control during power-loss scenarios, and continuous 100% duty-cycle operation. Additionally, single-input PWM options are available for multi-axis motor-control applications. Complementing these, EPC has introduced evaluation boards—EPC91128, EPC91129, EPC91130, and EPC91131—designed for three-phase BLDC motor-drive applications. These boards incorporate the new power-stage ICs and include essential components like gate drivers, current and voltage sensing, housekeeping power supplies, as well as temperature monitoring and protection functions.
EPC’s latest devices can be accessed via the company’s global distribution network, which includes major distributors such as Digi-Key and Mouser. These products are targeted at applications in humanoid robots, drones, industrial motor drives, medical equipment, synchronous rectification, and high-density DC-DC converters. Pricing for the EPC23108 and EPC23109 models is set at US$3.70 each, while the EPC23110 and EPC23111 models are available at US$2.47 each, based on a purchase of 3,000 units. The evaluation boards are priced at US$640 for the EPC91128 and EPC91129, and US$630 for the EPC91130 and EPC91131.
In conjunction with the launch, EPC is releasing a technical white paper available in English and Chinese, detailing the architecture, design considerations, and evaluation platforms for these new integrated GaN power-stage ICs.
