China has called on India to adhere to bilateral border agreements to maintain peace and stability along their disputed border. This appeal comes amid reports of renewed tensions and another standoff between the two countries.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun emphasized that China has consistently followed the existing agreements and understandings with India. He asserted that China’s regular patrols and border management activities are intended to protect its territorial sovereignty and ensure stability in the border regions.
The remarks were made following statements from an Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, who suggested that incidents occur when Chinese troops deviate from established patrolling patterns. This ongoing issue highlights the challenges both nations face in managing their territorial disputes.
Guo noted that both countries are communicating through diplomatic and military channels to resolve border-related issues. He urged India to collaborate with China in implementing the agreements they have reached and to take practical steps to prevent further tensions.
Maintaining peace and tranquillity along the border remains a significant challenge for both China and India as they work to manage these disputes through dialogue and established communication mechanisms.
