China has reinforced its dedication to enhancing collaboration with Central Asian nations during Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s recent visit to Kyrgyzstan. The discussions held during the visit underscored regional cooperation and multilateral efforts, with talks focusing on strengthening ties via platforms such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), the China–Central Asia mechanism, and the United Nations.
In meetings with officials from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan, China expressed its support for Kyrgyzstan’s forthcoming role as host of the SCO Bishkek Summit. In these discussions, China pledged to continue backing Kyrgyzstan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Both parties agreed to enhance coordination to promote regional peace, security, and development.
China’s dialogue with Uzbekistan highlighted the significance of progressing with the construction of the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan Railway. The two countries also explored expanding their cooperative efforts into rapidly developing sectors such as artificial intelligence, smart agriculture, and modern industrial development.
Meanwhile, in engagements with Tajikistan, both nations reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral relations. They aimed to expand practical cooperation in key areas such as energy and regional connectivity, a commitment that follows the signing of a long-term friendship and cooperation treaty earlier in the year.
The visit emphasized China’s increasing strategic partnership with Central Asia, with a particular focus on infrastructure development, trade, technological innovation, and regional stability. This ongoing collaboration highlights China’s intent to play a significant role in the region’s future growth and stability.
