Dublin Airport celebrated a milestone on Monday with the inauguration of its first direct flight to Shanghai, a direct link to China’s most populous city. Operated by China Eastern Airlines, this new route will run thrice weekly and will utilize the Airbus A350-900 aircraft. This service marks the longest-ever non-stop flight scheduled from Dublin Airport.
The introduction of this route is expected to significantly bolster Ireland’s engagement with China, enhancing prospects for travel, tourism, trade, and educational exchanges. Airport operator daa highlighted the strategic importance of this connection, noting its potential to strengthen ties with one of the world’s foremost aviation markets.
China Eastern Airlines, a major player in the global airline industry with its base in Shanghai and membership in the SkyTeam alliance, offers extensive services across continents including Europe, Asia, Oceania, North and South America, and the Middle East. The Dublin-Shanghai route is a noteworthy extension to their existing network.
